"Russian Day" in Munich
More than transport, more complicated
than logistics
On June 15 the largest international transport
and logistics forum was closed in Munich, Germany.
The first day of the forum
as of June 12 was declared the «Russian Day»
The most major European event in the transport
and logistics market was opened under the sign
of Russia and its growing influence in the international
transport market.
The transport market is one of the most dynamic
sectors of economy in the world. Economic growth
is accompanied by the booming growth of transport,
freight forwarding and logistics. Until recently
the Russian companies held not more than 4%
of the total market volume. However, the dynamics
has changed for the better lately. The tendency
of the last two years shows that the Russian
companies have entered the international market,
participated in the global division of labour,
collected dividends from the globalization of
the international economy and expanded their
client lists with the largest international

The «Russian Day» has become the landmark
for the entire transport and logistics market of Russia.
The Russian transport and logistics business made the
high-level presentation abroad for the first time. The
participants of the «Russian Day» succeeded both in
demonstrating the opportunities of the industry in Russia,
emphasizing the investment potential of the projects
currently implemented in Russia and stating the role
and importance of the industry for the Russian economy.
The speakers stated the investment
opportunities in the Russian transport business at the
highest level, as well as the plans on the transport
infrastructure development. They also revealed the budgets
of the Federal Target Program «Modernization of Russian
Transport System (2002-2010)» and the results of the
program «Development of Transport Service Export», which
provides for the creation of transport and logistics
hubs by 2010 totaling RUR500 mln. Total capacity of
the hubs to be put into operation under the program
until 2010 will exceed 100 mln tons of cargoes.
Mr. Sergey Stanovkin (the Director
of DARS Consulting, the organizer of the «Russian Day»)
in his speech to the participants of the «Russian Day»
emphasized that «the Russian exposition at Transport
Logistic occupied the area of almost 1000 sq m. It is
one of the largest national pavilions. What does it
mean for the international transport market? It means
a lot. It means that Russia is ready for the competition
and business in the global transport market».
Following the results of the first «Russian Day» it
was decided to continue the tradition of establishing
high-quality intercommunication between the professionals
of the Russian transport business and the countries
of the strategic interest for the Russian transport
industry. The
next «Russian Day» will be held in Shanghai (China),
10 December, 2007.
